(One, two, three) (Instrumental Music) (Singing) There are days when I’d sit and wish that I had so many riches See my life would be so happy and so easy, without any worries Oh babe, but this love and wanting is the starting of A complicated person, someone you never was, before that’s for sure yeah You find your life starts slipping, you lose focus Of things that really matter of things that don’t It’s all in vain, to live for today, hey So keep a simple eye, simple eye baby Keep a simple eye, simple eye Things will be better, you’ll see things much clearer yeah Keep a simple eye, simple eye baby A simple eye, simple eye You’ll find much more happiness Your problems will be less…oh, oh, oh yeah, hey yeah, oh yeah yeah, Woah There are days when I’d sit and wish that I had so many riches See my life would be so happy and so easy, without any worries, oh babe, But this love and wanting is the starting of A complicated person, someone you never was, before that’s for sure, yeah You find your life starts slipping, you lose focus Of things that really matter of things that don’t It’s all in vain, to live for today Woah Keep a simple eye, simple eye baby A simple eye, simple eye Things will be better, you’ll see things much clearer Keep a simple eye, simple eye baby A simple eye, simple eye You’ll find much more happiness Your problems will be less…oh yeah (instrumental music) (oh, oh, hey hey yeah, hey yeah oh oh oh oh yeah) My name is Joshua Kahula.
My band is Nuff Sedd.
And we started back in 2002 and our first album came out in ‘04.
Our first, I guess, hit song off of that album, Open Doors for Strangers, was the name of the album.
And the first song that really hit well was “Cherry Bomb.” After that we’re, it was a bit of a whirlwind, ‘cuz next thing you know we’re traveling here, traveling there.
And that happened that’s over 20 years ago (laughs).
(Instrumental Music) (Singing) Sweet cherry bomb bomb when ya gonna come?
I would like to call you up so you can give me some, Some of your sweet love maybe even a kiss, There’s no other girl who could even love me like this, Sweet cherry bomb tell me how long it'll take?
For us to get together cuz I’ve got so much to say, Some of your sweet love maybe even a kiss, There’s no other girl who could even love me like this.
Do you remember when I told you I loved you (oh), Do you remember how I showed you I cared (yea), Do you remember when we said "I Do" (Cuz I do), I remember that day, I remember that moment, I remember that vow we both made.
Sweet cherry bomb bomb when ya gonna come?
I would like to call you up so you can give me some, Some of your sweet love and even a kiss, There’s no other girl who could even love me like this, Sweet cherry bomb tell me how long it'll take?
For us to get together cuz I’ve got so much to say, Some of your sweet love and even a kiss, There’s no other girl who could even love me like this.
(Instrumental music) (Oh yeah) Do you remember when I told you I loved you (oh), Do you remember how I showed you I cared (yea), Do you remember when we said "I Do" (Cuz I do), I remember that day, I remember that moment, I remember that vow we both made.
Sweet cherry bomb bomb when ya gonna come?

Man on island there’s like so much chickens on island now.
And I used to before, think that Kauaʻi had the most chickens, but no, we have a lot of chickens.
Like we had a family of 10.
Mom had her family of 10, and now they're all big, and then she had another batch of 10.
So, they're like, everywhere.
So that's anyway, that's our that's our chicken song.
We call ‘em “Cuckoo.” (Instrumental music) (Singing) Let me tell you a story ‘bout my own neighborhood A woman with dogs that always barks whenever I’m coming home We live right next to the public road where everyone goes In the morning hear the noises with the start of a crow.
Hear the chickens that crow dem a go cuckoo cuckoo Hear the dogs when they bark dem a go woof woof woof woof Hear the cars when they pass dem a go vroom vroom vroom vroom It’s hard for me to get some sleep in my own room room room room (Ha ha ha ha, ha ha ha ha) To alleviate the problem I tried everything Closed the windows, shut the doors and even counted some sheep Also talked to the neighbors, and they all agreed In the morning hear the noises waking me from my sleep.
Hear the chickens that crow dem a go cuckoo cuckoo Hear the dogs when they bark dem a go woof woof woof woof Hear the cars when they pass dem a go vroom vroom vroom vroom It’s hard for me to get some sleep in my own room room room room (Hey, ha ha ha ha ha ha, ha ha ha ha ha ha) (Guitar solo) Finally I realized the only answer for me Is relocate and change the place I’m living at currently So I moved to another place that’s better for me No more noises in the morning waking me from my sleep No more chickens that crow dem a go cuckoo cuckoo No more dogs when they bark dem a go woof woof woof woof No cars when they pass dem a go vroom vroom vroom vroom It’s easier for me to sleep in my own room room room room (Hey!
Ha ha ha ha ha ha, ha ha ha ha ha ha) ( Buk buk buk bukawk!)
The “Cup of Aloha” that song, was really inspired after the fires.
And you could see the struggles within the community.
Cuz you would hear people say, wow!
No more aloha in Hawaiʻi anymore.
And I said, you know what, you’re right.
Everybody’s just trying to survive, right now.
And the hope’s though, is that if you can fill up your cup with aloha and get back to better situation, try and help the next person.
Help them fill up their cup.
And then, little by little, if we all fill up our cup, we can rebuild our community.
And it’s not just Laihana, if you get more aloha in the world, thing will be much better.
(Instrumental music) They say the world has lost a lot of its aloha No more smiles on the faces of our brothers So much trouble pushing down on people’s shoulders We gotta fill each other’s cup with some aloha.
They say the world has lost a lot of its aloha No more smiles on the faces of our brothers So much trouble pushing down on people’s shoulders We gotta fill each other’s cup with some aloha.
Look around, see we’re living in a crisis People struggling, fighting for survival Single mothers and children being evicted People fishing for housing & assistance My head is spinning in a downward spiral From all the trauma and the lies going viral Seems the world kept moving on Feels like aloha is gone.
They say the world has lost a lot of its aloha No more smiles on the faces of our brothers So much trouble pushing down on people’s shoulders We gotta fill each other’s cup with some aloha.
They say the world has lost a lot of its aloha No more smiles on the faces of our brothers So much trouble pushing down on people’s shoulders We gotta fill each other’s cup with some aloha.
(Instrumental music) Through tragedy we find unity Aloha unconditionally Strangers helping the young & the old No words to be spoken Patience, respect, understanding Oh this music is a healing And every day we make things right Out of the ashes we rise.
Let us show the world, how to show aloha Put the smiles on the faces of our brothers Remove the trouble pushing down on peoples shoulder’s We gotta fill each other’ s cup with some aloha.
Let us show the world, how to show aloha Put the smiles on the faces of our brothers Remove the trouble pushing down on peoples shoulder’s We gotta fill each other’ s cup with some aloha.
(Listen) Kokua aku, Kokua mai Helping all the people from Mauka to Makai Ke aloha nui iā kākou a pau Love & aloha for everyone Pono kākou e ho‘oponopono Gotta make things right with your cup of aloha Malama pono iā kākou a pau Fill up your cup with love and aloha Let us show the world, how to show aloha Put the smiles on the faces of our brothers Remove the trouble pushing down on people’s shoulders We gotta fill each other’ s cup with some aloha.
Let us show the world, how to show aloha Put the smiles on the faces of our brothers Remove the trouble pushing down on people’s shoulders We gotta fill each other’ s cup with some aloha.
(Ooh yeah, yeah, ah ya ya yay) What I found is a lot of songs, when I wrote them, they kind of took on a different meaning.
Now, you know, in recent years, “Life is Perfect,” I mean, if anything, life isn’t perfect.
But I feel like you can kind of create a little bit of imperfect perfection (laughs).
(Instrumental music) (Singing) If I held a place in your heart, I would be the envy Of all the men in your town They would wanna be me Thankful each and everyday You are the blessing I love and appreciate Life would be so perfect with you Yes my life would be so perfect with you Remember the first time we met I knew that we were meant to be together Wasn't sure just what I would say So I played it cool and asked you your name Because if I held a place in your heart I would be the envy Of all the men in your town They would wanna be me Thankful each and everyday You are the blessing I love and appreciate Life would be so perfect with you Oh yeah, life would be so perfect with you.
The conversation tells were alike It's easy to confide our thoughts and our feelings Your look was what caught my eyes But your real beauty lies deep inside.
Because if I held a place in your heart I would be the envy Of all the men in your town They would wanna be me Thankful each and everyday You are the blessing I love and appreciate Life would be so perfect with you Oh yeah, life would be so perfect with you.
It's hard for me to believe That you are here with me and we are together Your look was what caught my eye But your real beauty lies deep inside, forever and ever.
If I held a place in your heart I would be the envy Of all the men in your town They would wanna be me Thankful each and everyday You are the blessing I love and appreciate Life would be so perfect with you Oh yeah, life would be so perfect with you.
Oh, my life would be so perfect with you Oh yeah life would be so perfect with you.
I’m a country boy.
I grew up in Makawao.
So I never, never thought that I’d move to Lahaina.
When I first met my wife she actually kind of was going over, getting over a breakup, and the next thing you know, I was like, would have never thought, but somehow we just kind of connected.
So that was inspired by that.
(Instrumental music) You were there with your girlfriends Try’na forget all the pain Said I don’t mean to bother But what’s got ya feeling this way You had a bad break up It’s just been a terrible day I said bartender “Get her Whatever she’s drinking again.” Could I be the one to hold you And take away the pain in your heart?
Could I be the one to give you All of the things that you want?
Could I be the one to wipe away All of the tears in your eyes?
Could I be the one to show you To give you a better kinda life?
We went somewhere quiet And talked about what’s on her heart I listened to her story I saw that she’s been through a lot Now we’re more than just strangers I think she could be the one And one day I’ll ask her To marry me and be my love.
Could I be the one to hold you And take away the pain in your heart?
Could I be the one to give you All of the things that you want?
Could I be the one to wipe away All of the tears in your eyes?
Could I be the one to show you To give you a better kinda life?
Oh, oh, oh.
(Saxophone solo) Could I be the one to hold you And take away the pain in your heart?
Could I be the one to give you All of the things that you want?
Could I be the one to wipe away All of the tears in your eyes?
Could I be the one to show you To give you a better kinda life?
Could I be the one to show you and give you a better kinda life?
Anything from my music is to really just to share that aloha spirit.
I learned you cannot be aloha every day.
You know, some days, you just, you have better days than others, you know and every morning you wake up, hey, be thankful and grateful that we are here and do your best to just try and share that aloha spirit.
(Instrumental music) (Singing) I can tell by the way you treated me And how you gave so generously That you have so much love in your heart Acts of kindness which you impart To everyone that passes you by You’d say “Hello!” or a simple “Hi!” You’ve given so much hope to me I thought good people and manners were a lie.
Yes I know you wanna please everybody And I know you always try to help I can see your heart is bigger than Gibraltar Cause you never think about yourself I know you’d open doors for strangers And I know that you would go the extra mile To be sure the people round you are happy To be sure that you can make them smile Whoa yah…Uh huh…Whoa yeah yah yah.
I can say you’ve made a difference in my life To treat others just the way I’d like Them to treat me, that’s the golden rule Do unto others as you want done to you Now everyone needs a heart that’s warmer Show love to their sisters and their brothers If we all tried this remedy Life would be enjoyable to live with one another.
But where has the love gone?
Where did we go wrong?
Did we forget, and lose sight of our resolve?
Let us rebel against, this spirit of rebellion And make this world much better for all of us to live.
Cuz I know we can please everybody And I know that we can try to help If we show our heart is bigger than Gibraltar And we never think about ourselves I know we’d open doors for strangers And I know that we would go the extra mile To be sure the people round us are happy To be sure that we can make them smile (Oh yeah mm hmm Oh yeah mm hmm).
