just feel comfortable feels right And so uh the former bass player and I were in a group uh previous to this one And uh we were playing at the Kanikapila Grill where Kikoa came in as a sub one day and it was just very easy playing with him The the harmonies kind of came into sync Um and it just was it felt like we've been playing for a long time that we were so accustomed to each other And so um we decided that we wanted to kind of pursue a group with him to see what the what would come out of it [Music] [Music] Hallelujah [Music] E [Music] oh come [Music] E [Music] ohoo [Music] Allah the hell wrote um for my mother Um she passed away in 2019 um from cancer I was a student at uh uh at the time and it just came to me as most of the songs do you know when when you're inspired to write a song it just out of the blue will come to you one day and so uh again I quickly wrote the words down and um you know came came up with a melody and we kind of birthed this song to describe the um generosity of my mom and and her um ability to really fight through some very hard times She loved to go with me to Hawaii Island to go pick lewa to make leo leu was her favorite flower So hanai uh means to care for and then lewa mamo is the yellow leu which was her favorite um lehua flower The chorus just kind of speaks about how her this love that she has for everybody just kind of spreads one of those aapua that most people don't know about I mean it's so small that like if you you have to look for the cow It's true Just you always go back to the cow If you if you are raised around that area from Kahalu to Wo you would know where Kalai is and you would know about that cow But the cow's not buried The cow is not there Yeah we know the cow went [Music] Where the mountains meet the sea [Music] The air is fragrant with the blossoms of a [Music] vine In the valley I can hear the trade wind say [Music] [Music] As I wander through the garden in a gentle passing rain Birds began to inspired by uh the people who have come before us and knowing that you can uh perpetuate the style and honor the legacy of those people is so important We wanted people listening to our music to kind of be transported back to old Hawaii and to feel like um feel comfortable and familiar with with the songs that we're playing and also make it good for dancers to dance as well You know a lot of the the music that was played back then that we're trying to emulate now came with an energy that everybody could dance to everybody could sway to you know and connect [Music] with Will you love me will
